A
Tandem Jump
This is the ideal first time freefall experience,
being by far the quickest, easiest and hassle free way to make a
skydive. You'll experience the ultimate thrill of free falling at
120 mph after jumping from an aircraft then enjoy a long high performance
canopy ride with an experienced BPA Tandem Instructor.
Our aim is
to allow you to experience the ultimate adrenaline rush while knowing
that safety is our number one priority.
On arrival at the parachute centre your tandem instructor will take
you through all you need know to make the jump safely. This will include
the equipment to be used, aircraft orientation as well as covering
what you can expect in freefall and finally the position you need to
adopt for landing. |
 |
|
This
briefing and training generally takes 30 minutes and the instructor
will be pleased to answer any questions you may have. For your skydive you will be provided with a jump
suit, gloves, goggles and headgear. Next you will be fitted into
your harness by your instructor. Once inside the aircraft you
will be attached to your instructor. There is then a 20 minute
plane ride up to your planned exit altitude of 10,000 feet so
there's plenty of time to enjoy the spectacular views. After
exiting the aircraft you'll be travelling at speeds of 120 mph
which will last for about 40 seconds and be quite literally be
the ride of your life!
At about 5000 feet you'll be under a Ram Air Tandem
Parachute that has dual controls so you can have a go if you
wish aided by your instructor spiralling through the sky. Your
instructor will take complete control of the landing after about
5 minutes, guaranteed to take your breath away! To commemorate
your skydive experience you'll also be presented with a certificate
of achievement.
You
may opt to have the whole experience filmed and photographed
and this can be arranged directly at the centre when you arrive.
Still photographs are usually available on CD so you can arrange
for prints to be made in sizes and quantities you choose. If
you would like a video then this will normally be provided on
DVD. Make sure that you arrange your filming in good time on
the day to avoid disappointment!

Accelerated Free Fall Course (AFF)
This is the fastest
route to becoming a skydiver with one-to-one instruction throughout.
You receive a personalised intensive course
to teach you all the skills necessary to become a qualified skydiver. A full
days training is required prior to jumping covering everything you need to know
- the equipment, aircraft procedures, sequence of the skydive, body position
and how to deploy, control and land your parachute safely.
The course
duration is normally 3-5 days (weather permitting) but can be
spread over a few weekends if need be. The course consists
of 8 jumps in total (7 from altitudes between 10,000 and 13,000
feet and one from 5000 feet).
|
 |
|
The
first 3 jumps are with 2 instructors and the next 4 are with
one instructor. To complete the course you will perform a solo
exit from 5000 feet. After each jump your instructors will
give a thorough debriefing and brief you prior to each jump
to make sure you are fully prepared.
The ethos of
AFF is continuous exposure to freefall and the opportunity to
correct problems through in-air instruction. The canopy you'll
be using is the latest square type parachute which allows easy
control and safe landings. You will have a chest mounted radio
throughout the course so instructions can be given from the ground
if required.

AFF
Level 1 is a popular choice for those who wish to experience
skydiving but don't want to do a Tandem. The instruction is exactly
the same as if you were undertaking the full course except that
you complete only the first level. Should you wish to come back
and continue with the full course after a break of no more than
3 months then you can do so.
AFF
is the quick way into the world of skydiving. It gives the individual
immense satisfaction and personal reward in terms of the people
they meet and the experiences that only a few will ever have.
A
BPA AFF course is recognised throughout the UK and abroad - so
once completed an individual can jump anywhere in the world!
